The Baby

“The baby is asleep, hopefully, you don’t have any problems. Call us if you have any emergencies or any questions.” Linda expressed.

“Ah, I’m sure she will be an angel. You and the hubby go out and have a good time, girl.” Kayla responded.

“Okay, remember you can call us for anything…”

“Bye! Go have fun, Nyla will be fine.” Kayla interrupted, closing the door on Linda.

Kayla walked away from the door and checked on the baby, who was sound asleep. So cute, Kayla thought as she slowly walked out the room, slightly closing the door. While walking towards the dining room, Kayla heard a strange sound coming from Nyla’s bedroom. She immediately rushed back to check on the baby, but Nyla was still sound asleep. Strange, Kayla thought as she turned back around. She jumped on the couch, adjusted the baby monitor, and started browsing social media on her phone. Minutes went by when Kayla heard a loud thud coming from the baby’s bedroom again. She observed the baby monitor but didn’t see anything out of the usual. Kayla brushed it off and went back to browsing the web on her cell phone until another thud came. Since nothing was showing on the monitor, Kayla decided to get up and check on the baby with her own two eyes. When she arrived at the room, she couldn’t believe what she was seeing, Nyla floating in the air, tossing things around her room with the flick of her wrist.

“What the hell,” Kayla doubted her eyes as she nervously reached for her cell phone.

Nyla flicked her wrist and knocked Kayla’s cellphone away from her.

“Nyla wants to play!” Nyla spoke.

Kayla’s eyes widened when she heard Nyla speak, “You can talk?”

“Nyla wants to play!” The baby repeated as she flicked her wrist to close the bedroom door, locking Kayla in the room with her.

“Okay… Okay… What would you like to play?” Kayla Fretted.

“We play catch!” Nyla responded, flicking a ball Kayla’s way.

Kayla tossed the ball back towards Nyla, still in shock at what she was witnessing. Hours went by, and Kayla’s arms began to go numb from the soreness of tossing the ball.

“How about we take a break?” Kayla suggested.

“Nyla wants to play!”

“I’m getting tired, Nyla, and I can’t keep throwing the ball,” Kayla admitted.

Nyla’s eyes began to glow a bright red, and the aura around her turned deadly.

“Okay, okay, I’ll keep playing.” Kayla appealed.

The aura around the baby changed back to playful, and her eyes went back to normal. As Kayla struggled to toss the ball back towards Nyla, she heard the alarm go off, signaling someone opened the door. Relief overwhelmed Kayla when she heard the alarm. She fell to her knees when she heard Linda calling out for her.

“Are you okay?” Linda asked when she opened the door and saw Kayla on the floor.

Kayla glazed up and saw everything was back to normal, and Nyla was sound asleep in her crib. Rubbing her hand across her eyes, she couldn’t believe the trickery Nyla was displaying.

“Your child is a devil!” Kayla stressed as she grabbed her phone and sprinted out the door.

“A-And… another one.” Linda’s husband said when he saw Kayla running out the door.
