A Stroke Of Originality

Ian stood in the hangar testing the power output of his suit.

“You know what would be great?” Ian asked Trumane while he dialed the power levels of his suit back down to optimal.

“Man, it took me weeks to fix the suit last time you had a great idea,” Trumane answered looking over his shoulder.

“If we put one of those new bio chainsaws in each arm, and directly link it to the new power core.” Ian slapped the arm of the suit and stared at Trumane. “You can’t tell me that won’t be bad ass.”

Trumane looked over his shoulder once more, “Okay, I can’t lie that does sound like it would be bad ass. Now if two of them magically appeared over here with an order to install them, I would have no choice right?”

Ian just smiled and started walking through the hangar. Walking past people working on some of the other combat suits until he reached an office in the back of the hangar. Once Ian opened the office door he looked around and noticed no one was there. Nothing but chairs, and computers, so he let himself in and closed the door behind him. Walking near one of the desks, and giving a glance over his shoulder at the door before he opened the desk jour to grab a key. Rushing back out the office, before anyone seen him, Ian bumped into Sgt. Lawerence the head of the Global Hunter Combat Operations.

“Sir!” Ian stopped and rendered the proper courtesy as he almost knocked Sgt. Lawerence over.

“As you were.” Sgt. Lawerence raised his eyebrows giving Ian an awkward look as he began walking away.

Ian briskly jogged to one of the supply closets, unlocking the door and grabbing two of the new Bio Chainsaws. Ian walked back towards his suit repair compartment of the hangar and noticed Trumane already had wires hanging out of his suit and compartments broken open.

“I got them,” Ian said as he dropped the chainsaws next to his suit.

Trumane smiled as he quickly took the chainsaws placing them in the compartments of the suit that he had opened. After a few hours, Trumane and Ian had the suit put back together with the saws inside.

“Hop in, and let’s see what they can do.” Trumane nodded his head to Ian.

“Verification please.” The suit’s computer said when Ian climbed in.

Ian placed his finger on the scanner “Damnit Dani.”

“Password verified, welcome back.” The computer responded to Ian’s password.

“Give me full power to the arms.” Ian requested.

The suit let out a loud humming noise sending all the power to the arms. Ian smiled as the power surged through the arms.

“Here goes nothing.” Ian jerked the arms of the suit back forcing the chainsaws out. Once they came out and powered on Ian couldn’t control the chainsaws as they had too much power surging through them.

“Oh shit, Trumane pull the power!” Ian shouted from the suit.

As Trumane went to pull the power, he glanced over and saw Sgt. Lawerence, and Dani speed walking towards them. He took off running deeper into the hangar before they seen him.

“Suit, shut off power!” Sgt. Lawerence yelled.

“Voice authenticated.” The suit let out as all the power went dead.

The helmet slide down revealing Ian’s stunned face.

“What do you think you are doing?” Sgt. Lawerence gave a death stare.

“Testing equipment?” Ian let out in a low voice looking confused.

Sgt. Lawerence smiled. “What do you think he’s going to be doing Dani?”

“Patrol duty sir?” Dani gave Ian a grim look.

“You will be babysitting the newbies for a month! If anyone of them gets hurt or die that tacks on another month! Understood?” Sgt. Lawerence walked away with Dani without getting a response from Ian.

“Asshole,” Ian mumbled.

“Make that two months!” Sgt. Lawerence yelled from across the hangar.

Ian let out a sigh.
