Carter cut up plenty of peppers to go on his pepper steak and rice he was making for his family. The kids ran through the kitchen, while his wife Kathy chased behind.
“Hey babe, it smells good in here,” Kathy claimed as she stole a piece of steak.
“Does it really, my little thief?” Carter asked as he hugged and kissed his wife.
“Yes, sir.” She assured. “I’ll get out of your way so you can hurry and finish, so these little rascals can eat.”
They exchanged kisses, and Kathy went on her way. Carter laughed when he heard the shouts of the kids, and Kathy pretending to be a monster.
“Alright, my little rascals! The food is ready, come set the table.” Carter prodded.
The kids ran in the kitchen, swiftly grabbing dishes from the dishwasher, and immediately set the table.
“You guys must be starving to move that fast,” Kathy claimed as she entered the kitchen.
Carter sat the food in the center of the table and took a seat along with the others.
“Don’t dare grab that fork without saying grace,” Carter warned.
His son Niko heeded the warning and bowed his head. Preparing to say grace, a subtle knocking noise came from the front door.
“You guys say grace, I’ll get it,” Carter assured.
Opening the door, a man stood before Carter with a grim look on his face.
“Can I help you, sir?”
“You killed him.” The man spoke.
“Excuse me, sir, I think you have the wrong house.”
“I know who you really are, Tyrell.” The man stressed while pulling a picture out.
Carter looked at the picture, and his whole demeanor changed. He wasn’t happy, and cheery anymore, Carter was infuriated.
“Get the fuck out of here.” Carter fumed as he shoved the man.
“Babe, is everything okay?” Kathy asked from the kitchen.
Cater peeked back in the house. “Yes, just someone asking for directions.” He answered as he closed the door.
“So you have a family now? How will they feel when they find out you’re a murderer.” The man sneered.
“Last warning, get the hell out of here.” Carter threatened.
“I’m calling the police!” The man yelled as he pulled out his phone.
Carter looked around before grabbing a brick, striking the man over the head, knocking him to the ground. The man rolled around, screaming in pain, Carter rushed to cover his mouth.
“Shut up,” Carter mumbled, pressing his hands firmly over the man’s mouth.
Before he knew it, Carter was choking the man, trying to do anything to silence him. A struggle went on for a moment as Carter squeezed as tight as he could. Looking around to see if anyone had seen what just unfolded, Carter dragged the body to the back of the house and threw it in the car trunk.
“Did you help the guy find whatever he was looking for?” Kathy asked her husband as he walked in the door.
“Yeah, he found it…”
