Lucus rocked back in forward in his chair until he saw the mailman walk up.
“Hey, Lucus, how’s it going?” The man asked.
Lucus looked up and yawned before he spoke back, “Hey Joe, just catching a breeze. What’s in the mail today?”
“Looks like you just have bills and a package,” Joe responded.
“Hm, not expecting anything from anyone, but toss it here, and I’ll look it over.”
Joe passed him all the mail and waved goodbye as he went to finish his mail route. Lucus stared at the package and noticed it didn’t have any sender information. He thought about tossing the box, but curiosity got to him. After he tore the box open, there was an earpiece with a note attached to it that read “listen to me” on it. Well, I already opened it, I might as well listen, Lucus thought to himself. Once Lucus put the earpiece on, he tapped the small play button on the side, and instantly he recognized the voice.
“Hey Lucus, you golden eagle, it probably sounds bizarre hearing your own voice on this recording. “
Lucus paused the audio when his head started to hurt from the words golden eagle. He took a deep breath and shook it off before pressing play on the recording again.
“But I have to get to the point and fast before anyone realizes what’s going on. I recorded this audio to force you to remember who you are and what happened to you. You are more than likely going to have your memories suppressed. The mailman that comes every day they probably call him Joe or something stupid, he’s with the Syndicate Organization, tasked with monitoring you and keeping you within that city.”
Lucus’s eyes shot over to Joe, who was on the neighbor’s porch, glancing back at Lucus. Keeping his eyes on Joe, Lucus tuned back into the audio.
“Now you listen to me golden eagle, you’re wife Tara is probably somewhere in their HQ being tortured for information.” The audio continued.
Again, Lucus paused at the words golden eagle. His head started pounding more, but he couldn’t stop listening now.
“If you are listening to this right now, that means she hasn’t given them anything on you. She’s a fighter, but don’t keep her waiting. Take the rest of the items in this package and go get our girl, golden eagle.”
A flood of memories came rushing into Lucus’s mind the moment he heard golden eagle. He remembered everything now, how he got captured by the Syndicate, and how they took Tara. Looking into the box, Lucus saw a weapon and an ID badge to get into the Syndicate’s HQ. He grabbed the gun and fired two shots at the mailman, rendering him immobile.
“You and I are going to have a little talk…” Lucus said as he dragged the mailman into his house.
